CASE STUDY: COMPANY Z
A One Stop Shop For Biodegradable Plastic Solutions.
Armed with a desire to reduce the impact they had on the environment and with societal demands to reduce plastic waste, Company Z a large shirt manufacturer, was searching for an alternative for their shirt packaging accessories.
Consumers are concerned with how the products they buy impact the environment, and with our commitment to being a sustainable company drove us to this change. We not only replaced the material for the shirts but needed to find a substitute for the shirt packing accessories and buttons. This had to maintain the same physical properties and strength as traditional plastics, not affected by light, heat, or moisture, and be biodegradable and recyclable.

Rudholm Group’s biodegradable plastics can be used for packaging, including polybags, shipping mailers, PET box packaging, shirt collar stands, shirt clips, pillow box, kimbles, shoe hangers, stays and supports, and in yarn etc.
This Organic Technology is introduced during the manufacturing process which accelerates the biodegradation of treated plastics in landfill, ocean, under soil and biodigester environments. This means these products can be recycled with plastic waste (Check local authority) but if this product finds its way into a landfill it will naturally decompose within a few years, The end result is the microbes excreting the same waste as organic matter; which is Humus (biomass which is basically microbial waste), CO2 and CH4 that can be captured to produce clean energy. Rudholm Group’s independent 3rd party testing, done by Intertek, showed biodegradation after 45 days under ASTM D5511 testing.
We believe we are part of the solution for plastic waste, this is the most eco friendly solution for our products. it really is amazing technology. We are also using RH for our sustainable packaging options, with boxes and mailers, for us it is simple – to use a one stop shop.
