PLASTIC (POM) ACCESSORIES WITH ORGANIC TECHNOLOGY
Plastic (POM) accessories can now have Organic Technology added to them at the manufacturing process which accelerates the biodegradation in anaerobic landfill environments. The breakdown process is enzymatic, where microbes excrete the same waste as organic matter; which is Humus, CO2 and CH4 that can be captured to produce clean, cheap energy. The actual rate that the plastic biodegrades depends on the plastic itself and the disposal environment condition, but if in the correct conditions this plastic will decompose within a few years.
LIQUID WOOD
We are always trying to find ways to reduce our impact on the environment and are currently working with Liquid Wood. Made from 100% renewable raw materials which is degradable in anaerobic conditions and in water. This is a real alternative to plastic garment accessories like Buckles, Cord locks and Cord ends.
WATER-SOLUBLE HANG TAG WITH WATER-SOLUBLE AND BIODEGRADABLE SEAL
As part of our Eco Range we are working on a prototype for water-soluble hang tags with water-soluble and biodegradable seals. Made using Water-Soluble Fibre/Pulp and 100% PVA Seal that dissolves in water after use.
OCEAN WASTE RECYCLED PLASTIC
This uses recycled PA 6 fishing nets that are worn, that have been abandoned or collected directly from the oceans, minimizing the hazard of “Ghost nets” and reducing the effect on the marine environment. Recycled PA 6 or DEHP from fishing nets means the physical strength is not strong or as fresh as ABS or POM resins, so if necessary, a small amount of natural glass fibres are added for reinforcement purposes.
